ROUTE 1 PRINT AIDS IN BATTLE AGAINST COVID-19 WITH FACE VISOR DONATION TO NHS WORKERS

South Yorkshire trade printer, Route 1 Print, has united in the fight against Covid-19 by donating 1000 much needed face visors to their local Hospital - Rotherham General Hospital.

Face visors shield workers against splashes, sprays, and spatter of body fluids.

The online trade printer, part of wider company Bluetree Group, has transformed part of its 147,000 sq ft print facility into a clean, facial visor production line that can produce up to 5000 facial visors per day.
The face visor's shield is made from a clear 400mic PVC plastic which is cut using the firm's Kongsberg I-X024C high-speed CAD cutter. The elasticated headband, which secures the visors to the user’s face, is fully adjustable ensuring a universal fit. The printing company is also producing an optional polyurethane foam headrest version of the visor designed for comfort.

Following on from the worldwide shortage of protective equipment, the team at Route 1 Print knew they had to “do their part” towards mitigating the Covid-19 outbreak.

Head of Route 1 Print, Mark Young commented “Once we’d heard about health workers up and down the country struggling to get their hands on PPE we knew we had to do our part towards helping prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“The pressure was on to launch a suitable form of protective equipment and quickly. In order to help fulfill the demand, when choosing the material to make the visor from, we knew this had to be suitable, affordable, and widely available material (400mic Clear PVC). Thanks to the incredible team here at Route 1 Print, we were able to create the facial shields from scratch and bring them to market in just under two weeks.

“Donating the first 1000 face visors produced to our local Hospital (Rotherham General Hospital) is something both me and team are immensely proud of and is our way of giving back to the selfless staff putting themselves at risk to ensure the safety of our local community.”
