|THE AIAP WOMEN IN DESIGN AWARD
The AIAP (Italian association of visual design), and Favini, a leader in innovative graphic specialty papers made from natural raw materials (cellulose, algae, fruit, nuts, etc.), have announced the publication of the prestigious catalogue for the AIAP Women in Design Award and which features the best projects presented for the competition.
The AIAP Women in Design Award aims to understand and promote the contribution of women to design and to the world of visual communication. This is not solely to celebrate design with a female flair, but also to showcase new approaches to graphic design that would otherwise have remained in the shadows.
The publication, which includes the work of content winners Nike Auer and Claudia Polizzi along with 30 other excellent designers, has been printed on FAVINI CRUSH, an extraordinarily innovative range of ecological papers made using agro-industrial byproducts, which replace up to 15% of the cellulose of tree origin.
The cover of the catalogue uses corn and hazelnut CRUSH paper, with corn and kiwi fruit CRUSH chosen for the text pages. CRUSH gives the book a palette of uniquely natural tones which still reveal traces of the raw materials that made it all possible. In keeping with Favini’s commitment to protecting the environment, this new paper is FSC certified, manufactured using entirely self-generated green energy, and contains 30% post-use recycled fibre.
The AIAP Women in Design Award, curated by Cinzia Ferrara, Laura Moretti and Daniela Piscitelli, is sponsored by: the Italian Ministry for Economic Development; Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI); Associazione per il Disegno Industriale (ADI); the Italian association of Interior Designers (AIPI); AisDesign, the Italian association of design historians; the association DcomeDesign; and Poli.design, a consortium of Politecnico di Milano.
The catalogue for the AIAP Women in Design Award (AWDA) is available in bookstores as well as online: http://www.aiap.it/libreria.php?ID=8950
