|Ashgate launch Rolapress Sheet and Book Flattener
Ashgate Automation has designed and built the Rolapress sheet and book flattener to work alongside offline staple-folder bookletmakers and digital colour printers with inline booklet finishers. It processes folded sheets and booklet sizes from individual CD size through to 460mm x 460mm.
"Most bookletmakers produce booklets with a spongey feel to the folded spine," said John Price, Managing Director. "The Rolapress is a very simple, compact machine, which is very effective in transforming the quality of the booklet by perfectly flattening the spine in just a few seconds. It produces a sharp fold on the heaviest of booklets to give a professional finish."
For a crisp finish, sheets and books are positioned against the lay and the pressing roller is slid up and down the folded edges. It can be used left or right handed.
Thinner booklets can be processed at five to ten booklets at a time while thicker books benefit from being flattened individually.
Creased and folded spreads, especially laminated spreads being used on the Fastbind Fotomount lay-flat photobook maker, also benefit from the sharp Rolapress finish.
"At only £349 + Vat, we believe that there are a lot of applications for the Rolapress in the digital print finishing market," John commented.
