ARJOWIGGINS GRAPHIC PAPER RATED NUMBER 1

Arjowiggins Graphic has topped the table for fine papers in the second WWF Environmental Paper Company Index.
This year, the index rated 19 global paper manufacturers on their ecological footprint, covering the fine paper, tissue and packaging sectors. Arjowiggins Graphic recorded the best results in the fine paper sector with a score of 73.86%, and was also included in the tissue results.

Jean Charles Monange, Sales and Marketing Director at Arjowiggins Graphic, says: "It is excellent to see that Arjowiggins Graphic has achieved class leading score. This confirms the importance of leadership in the usage of recycled fibre for graphic papers as part of an economically successful sustainability strategy."
The index identifies a company's impact on forest ecosystems from fibre sourcing, its emissions from manufacturing processes and corporate transparency. The results offer independent analysis of the paper industry that can help businesses to make an informed purchasing decision.

Paper is a renewable, recyclable material, with a potentially lower footprint than substitute materials, if managed responsibly. However, as the sector expands its impacts become more serious and could leave an unacceptably large ecological footprint on the planet. That is unless the industry makes significant improvements. The index helps to galvanise the efforts of companies that are actively reducing these impacts - setting the standards for other companies to strive towards.

Rod Taylor, Director of WWF's Global Forest Programme, said: "WWF encourages buyers of paper, shareholders and investors to minimise their environmental risks by responding positively to the transparency and examples of improved performance shown by producers participating in the WWF Environmental Paper Company Index."
