|Paper Merchant’s Truck Fleet Evolution
The Premier Paper Group has taken delivery of its first pair of aerodynamically designed 'curving body' trucks as part of its commitment to reduce costs and environmental impact.
The 12 tonne DAF LFs, supplied by Ryders, are fitted with Bevan 21 bodies and are expected to reduce fuel consumption by around 10% with a corresponding reduction in carbon emissions.
Richard Minns, Premier Paper Group's supply chain director, said: "The paper industry as a whole has an excellent track record of addressing environmental issues. We believe that a responsible commercial approach to the various green, social and ethical issues surrounding our activities is essential. These new trucks are just one part of that commitment. They are the first of their type in our 96 truck fleet and we expect to be adding more as we replace the older vehicles."
The new trucks have been liveried with Evolution brand, the UKs latest and most complete range of recycled papers.
As well as curving bodies, the Evolution trucks are fitted with AS tronic automated gearboxes for greater fuel efficiency and a Greensight reversing sensor system for pedestrian and operator safety,
Anthony Bevan at truck builders Bevan Group said: "Operators with rigid fleets now have a clear choice on how to significantly reduce overheads and improve their profitability during these challenging times for the industry along with reducing their carbon footprint and environmental impact."
Premier Paper Group stocks over 20,000 tonnes across 5,500 product items which are held throughout the company for same day or next day delivery.
