|PaperCo takes new procurement programme to the provinces
"Confidence in procurement, knowledge that it is ethical and that it fits with the many different ISO and Chain of Custody standards can enable a printer to respond faster with fact based data to customers and that can be the difference between winning or losing a contract," says Veronica Heaven, corporate responsibility director of PaperCo.
For this reason the national merchant with the local focus is taking a new series of procurement seminars around the country. It will highlight methods for assessing and confirming responsible procurement behaviour. It wants to minimise the opportunities for illegal logging, unsustainable methods of production, unnecessary landfill and excess carbon outputs.
"We will cover procurement policies involved in Chain of Custody (FSC and PEFC) but also go beyond that to help our customers understand the sustainability approaches expected in: the UK Government's timber procurement policy (FLEGT); for PAS 2020, the direct mail standard; and ISO 14001, the environmental standard. Certification body BM Trada will work with us on this programme so printers will have access to a range and depth of expertise," says Veronica.
To take part in a regional seminar printers are advised to contact their local PaperCo branch for more details.
