McNaughton rides the wind of change

As part of its Sustainable Solutions programme, James McNaughton Group plan to erect a wind turbine on its gm2 Logistics site at Hilltop in Leicestershire. The turbine is capable of producing over 2 million kWh of renewable and zero emission energy and should supply all of the 200,000 sq ft site's electricity for the next 30 years, reducing the Group's carbon emissions by over 760 tonnes per annum. McNaughton have already converted all of their sites to 100% renewable green electricity but this new turbine will certainly make the 200,000 site unique within the paper industry, and become a very visible landmark for the area.Commenting on the plan Howard Browning, Director for Corporate Responsibility, says, "This is another exciting step in our environmental plan. We have already made a reduction of our energy consumption in excess of 20% and the installation of a wind turbine will represent a further step towards a more environmentally sustainable business."The turbine is planned to be in place by the end of 2008.
