Tree planting marks World Environment Day

Howard Smith Paper, part of the Howard Smith Paper Group, celebrated World Environment Day by staging a unique tree planting activity in the grounds of its Northampton head office. All the staff in Northampton were invited to help plant the trees, with a total of 50 being planted within the paper merchant group's grounds.A cluster of employees took to the grounds, armed with picks and shovels and with some even in high heels!Speaking at the event, Howard Smith Paper Group Marketing Manager Martin Webster praised the initiative, which marked the occasion in an environmentally friendly way."This is only a small gesture. Everyone has their part to play in reducing the negative effects on the environment and hopefully by planting these 50 trees, we are demonstrating what we can do."The result will not only be an aesthetic one, but will also be 50 more trees that will encourage local wildlife to the area, provide oxygen, moderate the climate and help to reduce carbon emissions. The tree plating ceremony is just part of Howard Smith Paper's on-going environmental improvements to its business and operations.
