B & D Print Services secures FSC certification

Lithographic and digital colour printer B & D Print Services Ltd in Leyland, Lancashire, has achieved FSC certification with BM TRADA Certification Ltd.

Sales Director Alan Ferguson appreciates the value of the FSC logo to the company and its clients. 'FSC is a strong brand in the print industry, underlining that the companies who use it are committed to reducing their impact on the environment. It also enhances our credibility in the market place and enables our clients to have the FSC logo printed on their literature.'

There is an increasing demand for chain of custody certification among print suppliers, he added. 'B & D Print Services has a reputation for excellence and speed of service, but being FSC-certified opens up new sectors for us.'

The £4 million turnover company has installed a new Kodak Nexpress digital press and in spring 2009 will commission a New Heidelberg B2 5 colour press, aligned with upgraded software to its management information system. It also offers on-site print finishing and a creative design service and has recently launched a state-of-the-art online proofing system 'We aim to meet and exceed our customers' expectations,' said Mr Ferguson.

Chain of custody certification
Chain of Custody certification is the unbroken path which products take from the forest to the consumer, including all stages of manufacturing, transportation and distribution. Chain of Custody certification provides evidence that the certified product originates from certified, well-managed forests.
